The presented paper is an unofficial translation of the Foresight Report prepared by the Government
Office of Science, Department for Business Innovation and Skills with the support of Defra and DFID. It describes the present situation in food system highlighting irrational use of natural resources and the fact that over 1 billion people worldwide are suffering from hunger and malnutrition. The authors provide recommendations on wide range of issues to overcome these problems. The document is relevant to professionals in the food sector and officials whose interests include food system, climate change, energy and water consumption and land use.
